Bryce Young reacts after being selected by the Panthers with the first pick of the NFL Draft
The Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young with the first pick of Thursday night’s NFL Draft. In an interaction with the media, Young expressed his happiness at being selected by the Panthers and called it a great moment in his career.
“It’s surreal. It’s a dream come true. What an amazing moment it is, I’m going to try to live in the moment. I can’t wait to go to work and start building this,” Young said. Said.

Panthers owner David Tepper was delighted to have Young. “Super Bowls,” Tepper said while addressing the sea of fans at Bank of America Stadium.
Later, at a news conference, Tepper provided details about the behind-the-scenes plan to acquire Young. He also praised the quarterback for his abilities.
“When we went through the process with these quarterbacks, we asked ourselves, ‘Which one of these guys is going to be the one to lead us? To win Super Bowls,'” Tepper said. ESPN.
“Listen, you want to win Super Bowls. And you know that’s not a sure thing here. But it’s a possibility. We thought this guy had the best chances to win Super Bowls,” he said.
Meanwhile, there has been debate over Young’s height (5-10 1/8, 204 pounds) which is significantly shorter than the average height (6-2 ½) for an NFL quarterback.
“Those who doubt me are entitled to their opinion. That’s the beauty of the sport. We all come together and debate whether you think good or not. I choose to give what I can control, put my energy into that and whatever external factors there may be, positive or negative, are the things I can’t control,” Young said.
Young had a stellar season while at Alabama. In three seasons at Alabama, the quarterback completed over 65 percent of his passes, threw 80 touchdowns to only 12 interceptions, and had a 165.0 passer rating.
