Dhoni, a master of taking successful reviews, surprisingly erred on the side of his Decision Review System (DRS) call against the RR batsman. With the ball pitching outside leg stump, the third umpire wasted no time in declaring RR not out. Rubbing salt on the wound, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar issued a remarkable statement during match commentary of an IPL 2023 match. On the CSK captain failing to overturn the match umpire’s decision, Gavaskar said, “Dhoni for once got it wrong.”

Cashing in on his debut after a free-soring powerplay, RR star Jaiswal played a blistering knock against Dhoni’s CSK at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The Indian southpaw registered his highest score in IPL 2023 with a blistering 77 off 43 balls. While Jaiswal top-scored for the 2008 champions, young Dhruv Jurel (34) and southpaw Devdutt Padikkal (27) helped RR post a mammoth 202-5 in 20 overs to post a late flourish.

Talking more about the match, Tushar Deshpande was one of the pick of the bowlers for Dhoni & Co. as the star bowler picked up two wickets and conceded 42 runs in his four overs against Rajasthan Royals. Dhoni’s CSK are leading the IPL 2023 table with five wins from their first seven matches this season. The Yellow Brigade are level on points with defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 standings.
