It was the Capitals’ third win in nine matches, while defending champions Titans suffered their third defeat. The result did not change their position in the IPL standings as the Titans remained on top and the Capitals continued to occupy the bottom spot of the ten-team tournament.

Capitals posted a below par score of 130 for 8 after opting to bat first but their bowlers managed to restrict the Titans to 125 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Defending 12 runs in the last over, veteran pacer Ishant Sharma held his nerve to dismiss danger man Rahul Tewatia (20 off 7 balls) conceding just six runs in it. After this, Tewatia hit Enrich Nortje for three consecutive sixes in the 19th over, scoring 33 runs in 12 balls and scored 12 runs in 6 balls.

In reply, hardik pandya‘ (59 not out off 53) and Rahul Tewatia’s (20) hat-trick of sixes were not enough as the Delhi bowlers held their nerves to contain the defending champions.
Defending a modest target, the Delhi pacers were able to make early breakthroughs as Gujarat lost three wickets inside the powerplay.
If ‘impact player’ Khaleel Ahmed (2/24) bowled a beautiful first over, which was a one-wicket haul, pacer Anrich Nortje (1/39) dismissed the dangerous Shubman Gill (6).
Ishant (2/23) also joined the party as he dismissed Vijay Shankar (6) with a full knuckleball.

The experienced Indian fast bowler set the course of the match by dismissing Phil Salt for a golden duck on the very first ball of the game.
A poor mix-up between youngster Priyam Garg (10) and skipper David Warner (2) saw Delhi lose the wicket of the Australian in the second over.
Riley Rossouw (8) was about to go, Shami hit it again for a four. The seasoned Indian prompted a short lead from Rossouw. An outside edge, the ball went straight into the gloves of wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi were 16 for three.
With Shami’s initial tight bowling, skipper Hardik Pandya decided to continue bowling to the fast bowler and the move paid dividends. Shami continued his wicket-taking spree in his third over, scalping two wickets in his final over.
The Indian bowled a faltering seam delivery, tempting Manish Pandey (1) to drive, but late movement meant the ball edged the bat and Saha, diving to his right, completed a brilliant catch.
Shami’s final victim of the night was Garg with Saha again completing another catch behind the stumps.
With half in the dugout, the Capitals, who are at the bottom of the points table and need to win this game to stay alive in the playoff race, were staggering at 28/5 at the end of the powerplay.
Akshar Patel (27), who was promoted up the order, and Aman stopped the rot with some much-needed runs but pacer Mohit Sharma (2/33) broke the 50-run partnership as he dismissed Delhi’s sub-par. Shook the wicket. Captain.
In the 16th over, Aman hit Mohit Sharma for a four at short third and hit a flat six over fine leg to bring DC closer to 100 runs.
Uncapped Aman completed his half-century in 41 balls.
His innings was studded with three hits on the fence and the same number of overs.
