‘I don’t regret it’: Dillon Brooks on critical comments against LeBron James
Dillon Brooks has no remorse for the critical comments directed toward LeBron James during the Memphis Grizzlies’ campaign against the Los Angeles Lakers in round one of the playoffs. Brooks taunted James, saying the Lakers star was old and criticized him for his gameplay.
“No, that’s who I am. I don’t regret it. I’m a competitor. I compete,” Brooks told the media on Sunday.

After the Grizzlies’ victory in Game 2 of the series, Brooks fired a salvo at James, saying “I don’t care, he’s old. You know what I mean? I want him to do four games, five games.” Was expecting. He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul, he should have said it earlier. I poke the Bears, I don’t respect anybody until they come and give me 40. I take pride in what I do.”
Brooks’ disregard for James drew much criticism from him and from Grizzlies fans. Later in Game 3, Brooks was ejected 17 seconds into the second half and charged with a serious foul 2 for hitting James in the groin area.
During the series against the Lakers, Brooks was fined $25,000 by the NBA for not making himself available to the media after a few of the team’s games.
Meanwhile, after their disappointing series loss against the Lakers, Grizzlies general manager Zack Kleiman said the team had to deal with “self-made distractions” during their campaign in the playoffs.
