‘I will not abuse anyone…’: Naveen to LSG players on fight with Kohli | Cricket

He later revealed his true reaction to the incident and to Kohli to one of his teammates in the dressing room.

The incident started with Kohli saying a few words before showing his shoe to Naveen. The Afghanistan star turned livid as he headed towards the former RCB skipper. The umpire and the second LSG batsman in the middle, Amit Mishra, immediately intervened. Kohli continued the tirade, this time prompting Mishra to Naveen to keep calm.

After the match, the two had an impromptu handshake before Naveen had a few words. Kohli ignored it and moved on but Naveen continued. Kohli then stopped and retaliated verbally. And before things could get a little more intense, Glenn Maxwell stepped in and separated the two.

According to the Indian Express, Naveen later told one of his LSG teammates: “I have come here to play in the IPL, not to take abuse from anyone.”

The Afghanistan star also took the fight to social media, where he wrote on his Instagram story: “You get what you deserve, that’s how it should be and that’s how it is.”

BCCI later took strict action against Naveen and Kohli. While the former was fined 50 per cent of his match fee, the latter had to hand over his entire match fee.

Gambhir was also fined 100 per cent of his match fee for an ugly spat with Kohli following the incident with Naveen during a handshake. Words were shared, leading to a heated affair at Ekana Stadium before teammates intervened to separate the two.
