IPL 2011 Winner: Chennai Super Kings | Cricket

Shortly after leading Team India to World Cup glory in 2011 under MS Dhoni, he became a two-time IPL winner as Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. This was the first time that the IPL expanded to 10 teams instead of eight with the addition of two new franchises in Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India. However, both the teams endured poor campaigns and finished eighth and ninth respectively. Last year’s runners-up Mumbai Indians made it to the playoffs by finishing third with 18 points, during which Sachin Tendulkar became an IPL centurion at the age of 37. Chris Gayle won the Orange Cap with 608 runs and two centuries, while Lasith Malinga won the Purple Cap with 28 wickets.
