RCB signs former CSK star in place of David Willey for IPL 2023. Cricket


Gearing up for their mouth-watering match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) On Monday, a former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star was included in place of David Willey for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Faf du Plessis’ RCB will clash with KL Rahul’s LSG in Match No. 43 of IPL 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Du Plessis and Co have successfully signed India batsman Kedar Jadhav as Willey’s replacement in the build-up to their meeting with the Lucknow heavyweights. Willey played only four matches and took three wickets for RCB. As per the media advisory shared by IPL, the former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has joined RCB for Rs 1 crore.

did you know Willey replaced Jadhav at CSK in 2018

Willey replaced Jadhav in the Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 season of IPL. Jadhav was out due to injury at that time. Willey had injured his toe while representing RCB in IPL 2023. Willey’s replacement at RCB for the 2023 season, Indian batsman Jadhav was earlier unsold in the 2022 and 2023 editions of the IPL auction. Jadhav has also represented RCB in 17 matches in the IPL. The Indian all-rounder made his IPL debut in 2010. The RCB star has played 93 matches in the richest T20 tournament in the world. The Indian all-rounder has scored 1196 runs in IPL.

The 38-year-old has plied his trade in the IPL with Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Jadhav has also played 73 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 73 T20 matches for Team India. The Indian batsman last played an IPL match in 2021 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The team of Virat Kohli-starrer RCB is at the sixth position in the IPL 2023 points table. Under the leadership of veteran South African batsman du Plessis, the Bangalore-based franchise has registered four wins and four losses in IPL 2023. Rahul’s LSG team pulled off a stunning victory off the last ball of the high-scoring contest when both the teams faced each other in the final IPL 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
