Satwik-Chirag world no. 5 ranking after Badminton Asia Championship win

The 2022 World Championships bronze medalist pair broke a 58-year-old drought, becoming the first Indian since Dinesh Khanna to become champions at the continental championships.

Satwik and Chirag, who had achieved the world No. 5 ranking in December last year, jumped one place to be ranked fifth in the latest BWF rankings.

Satwik and Chirag defeated the Malaysian pair of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Yee Yee 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 in the final.

Another Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun has also gained four places to be ranked 23rd in the world.

In men’s singles, HS Prannoy remained static at ninth position, while Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen have gained one place to reach 22nd and 23rd position respectively. Mithun Manjunath has jumped five places to become the world’s number one player. 41.

In women’s singles, PV Sindhu slipped to world number one. 12, while Tanya Hemant has reached 55th position.
