Tim David’s big ‘sleepless nights’ revelation on Rohit after six hat-tricks vs RR | Cricket
Tim David ensured that a dramatic Sunday night at the Wankhede Stadium ended with a big crescendo of action. Mumbai Indians got off to a good start in 2023 chasing 213 against Rajasthan Royals Indian Premier League (IPL) game between two sides. They needed 15 runs to win off the last over being bowled by Jason Holder. David was on strike and hit a six each in the first three balls of the over, thus helping MI get over the line. It was the highest successful chase ever in the IPL at the Wankhede Stadium.
David is widely rated as the player who will replace Kieron Pollard for MI in the finishing role vacated by the former West Indies skipper. He had made a largely moderate comeback with the bat before Sunday’s win and he admitted after the game that it felt good to contribute to the team’s success.
“This season I have been watching you and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) hitting the ball all around,” David can be heard telling Tilak Verma in a video uploaded on the IPL website. Verma, who has been the form player for most of the season for MI, ended the game unbeaten with David, although it was not his most fluid innings. The pair shared a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just 23 balls. “I am very excited to make an impact and perform for the team. It is good to have your confidence at the other end.
“Feels amazing. It was great to cross the line when you were running down the other end. Great feeling, couldn’t be better. Some days our rhythm is different. Today you weren’t in your rhythm but you Played some important shots as well.
David also joked that it is good to give a reason to cheer for skipper Rohit Sharma, who celebrates his 35th birthday on Sunday, as he was not consistent with the bat before the win against RR. “Wishing our captain Rohit a very happy birthday. We’ve been giving her sleepless nights by not playing well enough, so finally tonight we’ve got something for her to celebrate.
